The event took place from April 13 to April 28.

In their blog, the creators of Niantic's Pokemon Go reported on how the second annual charity campaign for garbage collection, timed to coincide with World Earth Day, was held - it is celebrated on April 22.

From April 13 to April 28, Niantic has teamed up with 46 non-governmental organizations in 41 countries and 6 continents, in total 176 organizations participated in the event.

About 17 thousand players-volunteers worked for 41 thousand hours. In total, they collected 145 tons of garbage worldwide, while in 2018 only 6.5 tons were collected.

Niantic separately noted the Orden de Guadalupe A.C. organization, which, with the support of players, local residents and government services, collected around 30 tons. They worked in problem areas, such as a dam in Mexico, where the surface of the water was covered with garbage.

As the creators of Pokemon Go noted, the action also served as a pretext for holding several educational events in which children were told about the need to save the Earth.
