The children’s charity is using goDonate Voice, an off the shelf product developed for charities by creative agency WPN Chameleon’s digital studio Addition.

Charity supporters can enable the skill through the Alexa app or their voice by saying “Alexa, open NSPCC” to donate.

The money is then deducted from users Amazon account and sent to the charity via Amazon Pay.

“We are always looking for new ways to reach our audience and voice assistants are a growing part of people’s everyday lives – particularly for busy parents with children,” said Louise Corden, Lead Digital Producer at the NSPCC.

Addition Managing Director Vicky Reeves added: “goDonate Voice is a new solution which gets charities up and running with voice donations and will evolve as the channel evolves, so our clients benefit from the very latest thinking and features”.

In October, Breast Cancer Care launched an Amazon Alexa tool to offer women advice on spotting the signs and symptoms of breast cancer.

Also in October, the British Heart Foundation became the first charity to link up with Alexa to organize donation collections.
